Cruikshank

engraved

Wright
. The
woodcut
is
a
vignette
and
Reid
notes
that
it
was
executed
by
Wright
as a
specimen
of his
craft
, but
never
published
.
FSL
has a
copy
of the
woodcut
(ART
Vol
.
c87
,
no.15a)
and this
sketch
may
have been a
preliminary
design
for the
vignette
.
It
is
also
possible
that this was a
preliminary
sketch
for a
picture
from
MSND
which
Cruikshank
exhibited
at
RA
in
1853
.
